EMS is the "Sister" company of YMS (Ysterplaat Medical Supplies) who have been specialising in first aid and emergency equipment and supplies since 1960.

EMS identified the need for a reputable company with a proven track record to train people in first aid and emergency care skills including levels I, II, III, V, VI as well as in CPR. EMS is a registered first aid training institution with the Department of Labour according to the Occupational Health & Safety Act No: 85 of 1993. (CI 178)

EMS is also registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa to train Level V ECP-B and Level VI ECP-I Ambulance Practitioners.

Instructors utilised by EMS include level 5,6,7 & 8 Emergency Medical Services personnel & instructors as well as medical practitioners. All instructors are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and/or the Department of Labour.

Recertification courses, customised courses as well as the combination of certain courses are available.
